10 Carden is creating space for change. For connection. For collaboration. For learning. And most importantly, for incubating new ideas, innovations and approaches. Join us and see what happens when creative minds come together.
10 Carden - creating space for change is led by Annie O’Donoghue and Julia Grady. The new organization is in the process of incorporating as a not for profit. Our vision is for 10 Carden to become a ‘community hub’ offering not for profit groups, businesses and individuals affordable and accessible shared space. Access to the space is within a variety of membership packages tailored to suit individual needs. Please email info@10carden.ca to be added to our mailing list.
10 Carden has a great store front presence directly across from new City Hall and is perfect for board meetings, large presentations (seating for up to 80), as well as smaller scale meetings and working sessions of 5-6 people as well as collaborative and individual work. Access to this prime location and shared equipment/facilities will help smaller groups with capacity building and let them become more visible in the community.
10 Carden sounds interesting - how does it work?
10 Carden will be geared primarily towards those working in the “social change” sector. This is broadly defined as those working to make our city and/or world a better place (as well as those interested in supporting such work.) Members of the facility will be able to drop in on a casual or regular basis and work in a flexible and comfortable space. Wireless internet, printing, photocopying, voicemail, post-mail service, file storage, coffee/tea and other office amenities are all part of the package.
The flexible space at 10 Carden is the ideal location for board meetings, workshops and large presentations, smaller scale meetings and working sessions of 5-6 people, as well as collaborative and individual work. You can tailor use of the space to your specific needs.
Who can use 10 Carden?
10 Carden is ideal for individuals, not for profits, businesses and groups. The Guelph Civic League will be a key tenant. Several others have already joined. You should be next. We envision all kinds of citizens - researchers, professionals, artists, freelancers, consultants, writers, students, mentors and volunteers working side by side. There is an infinite potential for collaboration. The benefits are endless.
What are the costs?
You’ll pay a membership cost of $120 per year (offered at a special rate of $100 until March 31st), and then a monthly fee based on your anticipated uses and individual needs. OR you can pay as you go for hot desk or meeting space only. The monthly space sharing fees will be confirmed after the information sessions and start as low as $20.00 per month. Members also receive greatly reduced rates on the full space bookings (for evening and weekend events). Guelph Civic League members will also receive a $10.00 discount on their 10 Carden membership.
10 Carden will be great for Guelph.
There’s already a proven model, it’s called the Centre for Social Innovation in Toronto. It’s a fabulous concept that was quickly embraced by the social change community in Toronto. The same will happen here. Find out how you can be a part of it.
